Edward and Julie Froggatt, Abbots Bromley.
Mr and Mrs Froggatt have a remarkable record in National and Classic racing going back many years. They own a really top breeding hen in "741" a daughter of the YOUNG COUPLE- GALILEO and AGENT STARLING. She has bred them "Winners, one after the other" since 2004.
In 2008 her good racing son GALEFORCE won 1st Section I in the NFC race from ALENCON considered the best result in the Midlands due to the wind direction and strength. A full sister to GALE FORCE won 2nd Section I in the NFC race from Fourges also in 2008. She was beaten on a decimal, also winning the Yearling Championship over 300 miles.
Another brother to GALEFORCE bred the winner of the Coalville and District S.R.H.S. 2008 Breeder/ Buyer race from Portland. Bred by Mr and Mrs Froggatt and raced by Mr and Mrs J.Dodd.
W J van der Kruk and Son, Tiel, Netherlands.
Maurice van der Kruk visited Blackpool in January 2006 and bought a daughter of the Young Couple - Galileo and Agent Starling from our auction.
This young hen is now named "14 Karat" and has made an immediate impact in the breeding loft. Her first youngster raced was Brenda bred in 2007. She won 1st Pommeroeul against 348 birds and a stack of other prizes. Another son of 14 Karat is "Boris", also bred in 2007 and he won 17 prizes in the OLV club in Tiel as a young bird and yearling.
In 2008 Boris bred two youngsters for racing and one became "Obama".This young 2008 cock scored a 100% record winning 8 top prizes in 8 races as a youngster and became the 1st Ace Young Bird of the Federation CCG 9. This Federation has 350 members and is the strongest in the entire Region 7 of Middle Holland against some of the most famous fanciers in Holland.
The 2008 young bird season in Tiel was the same as the rest of Europe, memorable for erratic racing with very heavy loses. Obama never missed his prize, any distance any weather. An excellent candidate for the future.
Phil and Neil Bates, North Wales
Phil and Neil Bates have a results record in all levels of competition from Club, Federation, Specialist Clubs and National that is quite simply breath taking. This is a testament to the commitment and skill that both fanciers put into the birds. In recent years they have won it all.
This year they won 1st Welsh South East National from Ramsgate racing against 2.244 birds and also beating the entire Welsh South East Combine against 4.696 birds by 38 y.p.m. clear!!. The winner is now named "Darcy" after the new loft manager, Phil's 3 year old grand daughter .As you can see from the photo Darcy also has the look of a serious pigeon fancier.
The National winner is bred from a son of Drum when he was paired to Cleopatra a super breeding hen from Gerrie a daughter of Kleine Dirk. Dam of the National winner is from Hannibaal when paired to Jasmine a daughter of Reza and daughter Aviator. For good measure Phil and Neil also took 3rd National with one bred from a son of Attila and Rianne. Dam of the 3rd place winner is from Phil's friend Jimmy Gibbons from the North East and she herself is also another one of their great performers.
Interestingly Phil and Neil also won 1st Welsh South East National from Maidstone in 2007 beating 4.634 birds and beating the entire Combine of more than 15.000 birds from the same liberation. This winner was bred from a son of Hannibaal and Gerrie.
There is no doubt in my mind that Phil Bates and Son from North Wales a.k.a The Chip Shop Boys will continue to be the men to beat for many years to come due to their enthusiasm and shear Pigeon Fancier will to win.
