*This is the Checker w/f Hen GB14V39534 winner of this weeks race from Maidstone. As can be seen , she was in immaculate condition upon arrival after a very tough race of over 6 hours on the wing into a strong headwind.
The progress of the long distance team continues with the first Welsh South East Combine race from Maidstone a distance of 240 miles to Bangor. We decided to send a team of 26 birds to this race as it promised to be a good working race with 20 miles per hour North West winds. As we are flying to the extreme North West of Wales that meant a headwind for the entire journey home to the north of the Snowdonia Mountain range.
A very testing race did unfold , however we were very pleased to have 22 of our team of 26 home safe and sound on the day.
It was very pleasing winning 1st place in our new club Llangefni and District against an entry of 175 birds sent by 10 members. The winning velocity of 1115 y.p.m. tells us the conditions of the race. So now its a week off for the team then into the first Channel race of the season.
Our first bird was a small, very silky feathered checker white flight hen that was in exceptional condition upon return. She is bred from ‘Crazy Horse’ a direct Cor de Heijde cock when paired to ‘Faith’ a daughter of our very good breeding cock ‘Waalre’ when he was coupled to the ‘Diego Hen’….
