*This beautiful young hen featured is ”356′ bred and raced by The Macaloney Family of Sterling to win 1st Section and 1st Open Lanarkshire Fed from Sedgewick against 4,368 birds in a really tough race with the winning velocity just over 1000 ypm.

A few years ago my good friend Willie Macaloney and I had a talk about new lines we had just brought in and the result was Willie buying some late breds from some of our Leo Heremans lines. I thought at the time that the Leo Heremans bloodlines especially the ‘New Dream Pair’ (Nieuwe Rossi x Eenoogje), De Jan, Favorite Koppel, Saffier Pair and Di Caprio lines would make ideal crosses with just about any good middle distance line. And this has proven to be the case not only for ourselves but many top fanciers throughout Europe.

The surprising thing that has developed is these have turned out to be good ‘hard day’ head wind performers, not just the fast race birds we expected.

From our original Leo Heremans introductions of six years ago, we have selected them down to the very best based only on race results. The ‘Nieuwe Rossi’ and ‘Eenoogje’ directs that we originally bought have all proven to be top class in any competition.

Another top hen we discovered is ‘Aspen’ a daughter of the ‘Power’ and a full sister to Leo Heremans Ambassadeur one of his big winners.

Aspen has bred’Foxy Jen’ bred by ourselves and raced by Geoffrey Douglas to win 6 x 1st Club average 250 birds each race…2nd Section 1.492 birds, 2nd NIPA Rosscarrberry National 6.212 birds…2nd Section 1.370 birds, 18th NIPA Rosscarberry National 5.669 birds…4th Section 2.239 birds , 18th NIPA Mallow 8.872 birds…49th Open Irish National F.C. Skibbereen 4.293 birds. Her first youngster won 1st club,2nd Section 4.294 b & 16th Open Tullamore 18.683 birds.

For Denis Irvine also of Northern Ireland she bred the father of 1st Irish National Flying Club Skibbereen Young Bird National 3.075 birds 2014.

For Morris and Pugh of South Wales she bred the mother of a real Super Star NWHU14N6032 ..the winner of 1st Welsh South East national and Combine from Ypres 2 in 2016 against approx 2,000 birds and the same cock was a previous winner of 3rd National and Combine Ypres 1 earlier in the season against over 3000 birds . He also won 4th National Ypres and 7th National Rosemont last season as a yearling !!

Aspen also bred ‘Kardashion’ now owned by G.W. & P. Macaloney of Scotland where she is establishing herself as a top breeding hen including breeding ‘356’ the 1st Lanarkshire Fed winner against 4,368 birds.

It must be noted that to breed the above she was coupled with four different cocks! It must also be noted that she has bred many other top winners that have been reported in all parts of the U.K. and Ireland and she is still a young hen.

'Kardashion' bred by Syndicate Lofts and owned by The Macaloney Family . She is the mother of 1st Lanarks Fed Sedgewick 4,368 birds.
