We paid a visit to the super long distance fancier Cor de Heijde in Made, Holland last week. His famous ‘Klamper’ is one of the legendary breeders of long distance and marathon pigeons of the last 30 years.

A few of the many awards won by Cor de Heijde…

The sheer volume of National winners, National Ace and Olympiade winners that the Klamper line has bred defies imagination.

For example the Belgian Champion Etiene Meirlaen raced ‘Cor’ a grandson of Cor De Heijde’s ‘Don Michel’ to win 1st International Asduif Long Distance 2008…

The ‘Marmelda’ of Gebr.Van der Matten was the Olympiade Champion in Poland with these results ~ 7th National Bordeaux 18.023 birds~7th National Cahors 13.185 birds~22nd National Bordeaux 13.242 birds~45th National Montauban 18.668 birds ~ 113th National Bergerac..she is the ‘Klamper’ bloodline…

Frans Bungeneers owns a daughter of ‘Briljantje’ ( a grand daughter of Klamper) that bred him 1st National Barcelona 13.066 birds in 2005 and is also grand mother of 2 & 4th National Barcelona 2009…

Comination Aarts of Baarle Nassau won 1st Dutch National Ace Pigeon  Overnight Races in 2011 with the two-year old hen ‘Smart Lady’ (NL09-3931389). She succeeded in winning three absolute top prizes: 7th Bordeaux against 3,855 pigeons, 14th Bergerac against 4,133 pigeons and 14th Cahors against 4,939 pigeons. With these fantastic prizes she became 1st Ace Pigeon Brabant 2000, 1st Asduif in the competition ‘The best of the Best’ and 1st Ace Pigeon Overnight in the National WHZB competition.
The father of this top hen is the ‘04-535‘. He comes from the Gebr. van der Matten and is 100% from Cor de Heijde ‘Klamper’ bloodline.

The purpose of our visit was to obtain some Klamper bloodline to cross with our own bloodline to compete in the NPO on the day races. Our program in Brabant 2000 now has five races ‘back to back’ all 700 to 900 km. For this program we need some endurance without diluting the speed.

Cor de Heijde himself is also breeding along the same lines for these races and this year won 1st National Bordeaux with a two year old blue cock that had also won 25th National Bordeaux as a yearling last year. His winner is bred from a son of  ‘Jonge Bliksem’ x ‘Dirkje’ therefore a brother to ‘Harry’ of Cor’s great friend Jan Hooymans when coupled to a direct daughter of ‘Don Michel’..
