We recently spent a very pleasant Sunday morning visiting the stunning home and lofts of Jan Hooymans in Kerkdriel.

No less stunning are the famous children of his super couple ‘Jonge Bliksem’ and ‘Dirkje’ the breeders of a legion of top performing children including his ‘Harry’ winner of 1st Dutch National Ace One Day Long Distance with results such as 1st Blois 37.728 birds, 1st Chateauroux 22.340 birds, 3rd Chateaudun 21.520 birds and so on….

Grandchildren of the couple are also racing to the highest standard of competition notably the ‘Bordeaux’ of Cor de Heijde winner of 1st National Bordeaux as a two year old having already won the Provincial Race from Bordeaux as a yearling. The Bordeaux has a full brother that this year won 31st National from Marseille in a real tough contest. Both brothers are bred from ‘Future Boy’ a son of ‘Jonge Bliksem’ x ‘Dirkje’ therefore a full brother to ‘Harry’ when he was paired to a daughter of the ‘Don Michel’ the famous Cor de Heijde Long Distance Champion from the line of ‘Klamper’…

We look forward to breeding with these bloodlines in the new season.

The beautiful home of Jan Hooymans…

Jan’s ‘footy’ pitch behind the loft!

A view of the main racing loft…

The aviary…

One of our re reinforcements for the 2014 breeding season that Jan named ‘Sunday Child’ so we will keep the name…
As can be seen the moult is progressing well and the quality has exceeded our expectations…
Still haven’t worked out if ‘Sunday Child’ is a male or female yet…

The bloodline of the dam of ‘Sunday Child’ the ‘Last One’ is important for us to breed with as it is hopefully compatible with our ‘Drum’ or ‘Young Couple’ lines…
