Last week I had a call from Davy Barron who informed me of his fantastic start to the 2014 Old Bird season. Flying as Barron & Son in the Ashington Club in the Wansbeck Federation there results are really top class.

From Huntingdon they won 1st and 8th Tyne to Tweed Section against almost 7000 entries. Their winner was bred direct from their top breeding son of Caliph that had previously bred their 1st Up North Combine Maidstone Young Bird Classic against over 14,000 birds . Caliph was  bred by Marijke Vink from ‘Reza’ considered one of the best Middle Distance racers in the history of the Dutch Pigeon Sport. He won 1st Chantilly 10,589 brds, 1st Perrone 29,332 birds, 1st Chantilly 21,892 birds, 2nd NPO Chantilly 17,818 birds…. ‘Reza’ was bred from the famous ‘Tips’ x ‘Geschelpte Kannibaltje’ and is now owned by Mr Kijima in Japan. Dam of their winner was bred from Davy’s old family crossed with his friend Patrick Vervloesem’s bloodline that has also flown exceptionally well for them.

In the Tyne to Tweed race from Bubwith against over 7,500 birds again they won 1st and 2nd with many more close up in the result. Their winner was bred from a direct daughter of ‘Drum’that has also bred them multiple prize winners. ‘Drum’ is of course a full brother to ‘Reza’ bred from ‘Tips’ x ‘Geschelpte Kannibaltje’. Father of their winner is once again from Davy’s own original bloodline that has won at all levels for them.

For good measure Barron and Son also won 2nd,3rd,4th,5th,& 8th with many others on the result in the Tyne Tweed Race from Newark with again around 7,500 entries.

Good bloodlines are of course very necessary to achieve these kind of results, however they are nothing without the skill of the top class fanciers Barron and Son.
