Two weeks ago our great cock ‘Drum’ passed away however his legacy continues with many eye catching performances in top competition. In fact two notable victories with two of his granddaughters were achieved the very same week….
Doonan and McGuiness from Dromore , Northern Ireland won 1st Section D of the NIPA when 67 members sent 1,696 birds finishing 3rd Open against 12,040 birds. The winning checker hen was bred at Wayne Doonan’s Cock Crow Breeding Stud from a son of Drum when he was coupled with a granddaughter of Jackpot through their excellent Heremans-Ceusters stock.
Mark Darby from Birmingham has a really top class breeding cock from Drum when he was paired to Marita that is responsible for many winners in the Midlands over the last 6 or 7 years. His latest winner when he was also coupled to a Heremans- Ceusters bloodline hen bred by himself from a son of Olympiade with a daughter of Di Caprio is a super young checker hen that won 1st Worcester Federation from Frome when 255 members sent 4,414 birds. This fantastic young hen had scored 4 times from 4 races before topping the Federation and also won 4th in the highly competitive Super Club the week after. Top class….
Very well done to all involved.
