Peter van der Merwe and the Genie bloodline…

 

*In the spring of 2012 we arranged a special pairing between ‘Genie’ our great breeding daughter of ‘Drum’ and ‘Gerrie’ and ‘Amigo’ of our friend the Dortrecht Champion Peter van der Merwe. This was particularity interesting for us as the father of ‘Amigo’ is Peter’s super cock ‘Replay’ that contained a lot of ‘Kleine Dirk’ blood and what was even better was the old original Tournier and Van Loon lines on Amigo’s mothers side that had flown so well for the Van der Merwe family for many years.

The results were four summer bred 2012 hens of which Peter kept two and we retained two. All four are magnificent specimens and winners were reported back to us from our two hens immediately.

Peters two hens have been quite exceptional. One is ‘Tess’ NL12-1620258 that straight away when coupled with an Ad Schaerlaekens cock bred 1st Quievrain against 616 birds and 1st Duffel against 2,355 birds and then bred NL13-1240992 ‘Tiesto’ who won 1st from Sens against 1,332 birds before winning 1st National NPO Nanteuil against 13,814 birds.                                                                                                             In 2015 ‘Tess’ with the same cock bred NL15-1708719 ‘Sister Tiesto’ that as a yearling this season has won 13th Provincial Morlincourt 8,738 birds,1st Quievrain 2.069 birds ,1st Duffel 2,474 birds, 1st Peronne 1,008 birds 1st overall 6,734 birds.

The other sister is NL12-1635848 ‘Dochter Amigo’ when also paired to an Ad Schaerlaeckens bloodline cock bred NL15-1708747 winner of 8th Pont St.Max against 6.160 birds plus other early prizes before winning 1st Quievrain against 3,752 birds and 1st Overall 11,902 birds.

Peter van der Merwe is of course a great fancier and has been since he was a junior and knows how to get the best from any top bloodline.
