Saturday 20th July was the fourth young bird race of the season. Having missed last week we were concerned about returns as the heat remains brutal. Most fanciers in the Combine and further are reporting catastrophic losses so we are trying to be as careful as we can to protect next years yearlings.
This week we sent 50 and had all 50 home , so that was an achievement. Our team however are not flying as a team yet. Things are improving slowly.
Pommeroeul is around 170 km’s for most fanciers and Afdeling 2 Brabant 2000 had Rayon 3 with 3949 birds and Rayon 4 with 4633 birds making a total of 8582 liberated together at 7.30 am.
Again we had a tough race with heat and headwinds and slow speeds down in the 1100’s meters per minute.
We had a very early one winning 7th Altena Raamsdonkveer against 1188 birds ~ 10th Rayon 3 against 3949 birds and 10th overall against 8582 birds.
Our first three birds this week are all grandchildren of Drum with the first one being GB13J04625 bred from ‘Little Devil’ a 2011 son of Drum when he was coupled with Aspen bred by Leo Heremans from ‘Den Power’ his good breeding cock. Aspen is a full sister to ‘De Ambassadeur’ the super racer purchased from the recent Clearance Sale by the Eijerkamp family.
Mother of GB13J04625 is Blauwe Helena bred by Mauice Hasendonckx inbred to his famous Kleine Blauwe winner of 1st As Duif Hafo Lier 1999.
