• ‘Chico’ a son of Hannibal and probably his successor…We can verify way over 50 x 1st prize winners from this great cock in the first and second generations when paired to different hens and for many different fanciers… Steve Prices  Federation winner was another grandchild !

Had a call from Steve Price of Price Brothers and Son of Stourport reporting yet more top class results.

Last weekend was one of the toughest race weekends in recent memory with scorching heat and stiff North Easterly winds. Despite this , Steve reports winning 1st and 2nd Heart of England Federation Blandford race against 943 birds entered by 101 members.

Fist bird was bred from a son of ‘Chico’ our super breeding son of ‘Hannibal’ and ‘Genie’. ‘Chico’ was coupled with a sister of Rik Hermans top hen ‘Minerva’. Steve’s winner is a two year old hen that also topped the Heart of England Fed from the same race last season!

Second bird for second Fed is a two year old direct son of ‘War Drum’. This cock was a previous winner of 1st Worcester Fed from Frome against 3,550 birds. The direct children of War Drum raced in a class of their own winning at least 14 x 1st Feds and around 10 x 2nd Feds with countless other Fed and Classic positions. The reports of his offspring into the second generation are scoring to the same level in all types of competition. Drum and Rocket bloodline !!

Steve also reports his yearling blue pied hen a daughter of ‘Propere Rik’ and ‘Foxy Lady’ being his first arrival in her first channel race , the very tough Midlands National race from Tours 370 miles to score provisionally 18th Section against 417 birds and 120th open from over 3000 birds. This hen was a winner of 2 x first prizes as a youngster and went to the Tours race with full confidence being pooled to £10 Section and Open plus the yearling single nom.

So it was a weekend for the experienced previous winners to score in the tough conditions.

Very well done indeed.
