This is the fantastic NL11-3033847 ‘Blue Baron’ winner from Strombeek yesterday…

*Yesterday we had two races in the program. The first one was the first Natour (any age) race of the season that went very well and the second was the young bird race from Meaux that again did not come up to expectations.

The young bird race from Meaux a distance of 345 km to Nieuwendijk saw us enter 36 youngsters and had 11 in the prizes which is an under performance even though we had some early ones.

Our first bird GB13J04605 won 15th prize against a 933 bird entry taking 39th Combine against 2,982 birds. She is bred from Spartacus bred by Marijke Vink and is a half brother to her great Dolmela. The dam is Imogen the daughter of Hannibaal paired to Little Star (Di Caprio x Dtr Kannibaal). This pair also bred us a Combine winner in 2011 so we tried them again.

The young bird team are flying very well around the loft and in training , however the racing is very erratic. We have decided to stop the team and maybe enter a few more Natour races. We think its much better to retain youngsters in this very erratic year for losses as a strong team of yearlings in 2013 is more important. Most of the club members have also decided the same thing.

The Natour race saw a good entry of 395 birds from the club and our entries took 1st,2nd,5th,7th,and so on. In the Altenna Ramsdonkveer against 1,358 entries we won 1st,2nd,7th,13th and so on.

Union de Baronie against 4669 birds it was 3rd and 4th  and in the NPO race against 18,156 birds we managed 43rd and 50th prizes  with all 22 entries home in good time.

This NPO race result was very pleasing indeed due to the strong west wind over the route. It also demonstrated that experienced birds are needed in the team at all times.

First bird is NL11-3033847 ‘Blue Baron’ for 43rd NPO vs 18,156 birds. He is a previous winner of 12th NPO Creil against 11,056 birds, 44th NPO Sezanne against 14,457 birds , 46th NPO Sens against 10,508 birds also winning 10 prizes in the top ten in the Combine as a yearling. A real consistent racer.   He is once again from ‘Super 8’ the breeder of many supers being from the original Ganus/van der Weijst bllodline via Joep and Hercules crossed with the famous Matten x Sissi and Wounded Knee of Ad Schaerlaeckens.

Second bird is NL11-1867155 a grandson of Super 8 this time paired to a daughter of Dutch Master and Lady Marijke the super Marijke Vink bloodlines. This cock has previously won 1st Nijvel against 577 birds winning 1st Altena Ramsdonkveer 1,995 birds and 2nd Combine against 7,211 birds and many other good prizes.
