*Tony Whitehouse is one of the most respected fanciers in the Midlands with a fantastic record of top results at all levels of the sport.

On Monday 18th September  after a two day holdover the 3,584 birds sent by 349 members were liberated in a North North West Wind from Countances for the 2017 Young Bird Classic. Due to the conditions an extremely hard raced followed, however Tony Whitehouse showed his extreme class by winning it by almost 35 yards per minute at a speed of 1199 ypm.

His winner is really bred for the job. Tony bought her Mother at the Golden Duif Auction in Blackpool in 2014 from the entry of the famous Verbree and Son. She was bred from ‘Lucky Boy’ one of Verbree’s great new young talents when paired to a very special hen ‘Cindy’ a direct daughter of our world renowned ‘Young Couple’.

In 2000 Mike Ganus our partner loft in America bought Verbrees Olympic Ace Pigeon ‘Super Champion Orlando’ and an excellent relationship has been maintained between Father and Son Verbree and Mike Ganus and myself Peter Fox.

In 2007 due to the removal of our stock and racing lofts in the Netherlands we had an entire clearance sale of all birds in Nieuwendijk  in an incredible sale organised by Jan and Rik Hermans and De Duif magazine. One of the stars of the sale was the phenomenal ‘Kannibaal King’ a direct son of our Young Couple and he sold for over 20,000 euro to the famous fancier Ludo Claessens.

‘Cindy’ a daughter of the ‘Young Couple’ owned by Co and Piet Verbree…

The Verbrees together with Kees Bosua and Gaby Vandenabeele were among the under bidders for him. Because of our relationship we agreed to present Co and Piet with a young hen the same way bred the following breeding season. This resulted in GB08L24658 ‘Cindy’ finding her way to Putte.

When paired to ‘Salino’, ‘Cindy’ formed a top breeding pair for them. This pair bred their fantastic racer ‘Santano’ winner in 2012 of 1st NPO Blois (605 km) 5,325 birds and 2nd NPO Salbris (597 km) 5,745 birds…

Another daughter of this pair they gifted to their friend Koen Minderhoud Provincial winner from Morlincourt against 11,079 birds was a blue yearling cock that was a previous winner of 9 prizes as a youngster.

Tony Whitehouse bought the daughter of ‘Lucky Boy’ when paired direct to ‘Cindy’ at the Golden Duif Auction in Blackpool and she became the father of his Countances MNFC Young Bird winner!

The legendary ‘Young Couple’…

Some of their direct offspring…

The Father of Tonys MNFC Young bird winner is also a cock with a fantastic gene pool. In 2014 Tony won 1st Midlands Midlands National Flying Club Vire against 5074 birds in a very tough but fair contest.     The Sire of Tony’s Vire winner was from the ‘Hillcroft Bomber’ bloodlines of Mr and Mrs Armstrong, when paired to Tony’s excellent Verbree breeding hen. Tony bought this hen at a Northern Premier Auction as a young bird in 2004 and she has bred him multiple winners. Her breeding is on the sires side from the ‘Blue Mike’ a son of Super Champ Orlando paired to a daughter of ‘The President’. The ‘Blue Mike’ was a gift back to the Verbree’s from Mike Ganus after purchasing Super Camp Orlando after his South Africa Olympiade success. ‘Blue Mike’ was coupled to ‘Tonia’ a full sister to ‘Super Champ Orlando’. The Dam of Tony’s  MNFC  Vire winner was bred by  Tony’s good friend Jack Walker of Hedensford from a son of ‘Johannesburg’ (Drum x Doran) x ‘Star 300’ (Galileo x Syndicate Emerald) when coupled with a daughter of ‘Junior’ (Last son of our Young Couple) x ‘Rosetta’ (Casanova 1st Dutch National Ace x Syndicate Brittania).

The father of Tony Whitehouse 1st MNFC Countances was bred from a full brother to the sire of his Vire winner paired to the Jack Walker ‘Johanesburg’ hen !

Another  quite incredible thing in this same MNFC Countances race was the second open prize winner raced by   R.McLaughlin and Son of Cannock was bred from their spectacular breeding pair , the hen of which is also down from the same Jack Walkers ‘Johannesburg Cock and ‘Star 300 hen’ coupled with a daughter of our old Champion breeder ‘Hannibal!

This is GB07R31300 ‘Star 300’. She was bred from ‘Syndicate Emerald’ a winner for us of 1st U.K. & 6th International in the Sun City Million Dollar Race in 2006 from 397 miles, winning over $25,000. She was purchased back by us and returned to our stock loft in North Wales wher she bred generations of top winners before moving to China.
To breed ‘Star 300’ she was coupled to ‘Galileo’ our fantastic breeder and cock of ‘The Young Couple’…
